Set Apart for Service

"Sanctify them by Your truth Your word is truth" (John 17:17 NKJV).
Have you ever wondered exactly what this Scripture means? Well here is something for you to think about.  Sanctify means to set apart.  There are two ways to understand this:(1)as separate for holiness, or (2)as set apart for service.  According to the first view, Jesus was praying for the disciples to be kept from evil and then to advance in holiness.

Sanctification refers to the disciples mission, indicating that sanctify may mean that Jesus was setting apart His disciples for this. People's opinions may vary, and experiences are untrustworthy, but God's Word always remains true. Annie Dennis Eskridge, author of Sin Abides. Website: http://www.ruthplace.com/.
