Word of Wisdom

Very interesting read. 1 Peter 3:10-12NKJV"For He who would love life And see good days, Let him refrain his tongue from evil. And his lips from speaking deceit. Let him turn away from evil and do good: Let him seek peace and pursue it. For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And his ears are open to their prayers, But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil."

This passage tells us to keep our tongue from speaking evil and deceit. We should stop doing evil but do good. We should seek peace and follow after it. Because God's eyes are watching us and God's ears are open to our prayers. He is willing to answer our prayer. But if is condidtional providing that we as Belivers of Jesus Christ have lived a holy life. We should not expect God to answer our prayers if we have not kept our part.

Peter uses the eyes and ears symbolic to remind his readers that God knows all things about us. He listens and responds to our cries for help. The face of the Lord is against us when we do evil.

Let's look at Psalm 34:13-17 "Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, And His ears are open to their cry. The face of he Lord is against those who do evil, To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, And delivers them out of all their troubles."

Then, David took the role as a wisdom teacher, speaking to the young people who are in charge. It is necessary to depart from evil. In this passage the eyes of the Lord symbolizes His care and protection.

Both passages are telling the people to depart from evil. It is your choice, but as Christians, we should follow after righteousness. Another point would be,"Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him"(John 9:31NKJV).

Thanks for taking time to read this word of wisdom for today. For years I quoted the first two Scriptures as part of my quiet time. Being holy does not come easy you have to work at it. This is why it is so important to spend time praying in the Holy Spirit/Holy Ghost as well as meditating on the Word of God. Because once you have the Word of God(inner word) in your spirit you can speak it at any time and it will manifest. Again be blessed and enjoy your Thanksgiving. Always be a blessing to someone who is less fortunate as you. Author Annie Dennis Eskridge, Sin Abides. Email: areskridge@sbcglobal.net.
